Abstract

Of the four seed health testillg techniques viz., seed smking,
seed maceration, blotter test alld growillg-on test used for the
detection of Xanthomonas campestris pv. vignicola (Burkh.)
Dye from naturally infected seeds of cowpea, seed soaking test
was found to be superior to other methods frolll quarmltine point
of view. In the host-rmlge studies, Glycine max, Pisum sativum
and Vida faba were identified as compatible hosts for the first
tinze and injection-infiltration technique showed superiority over
the spray inoculation technique.
