Main Article Content
Abstract
India's share in the world production of fruits is about 8% and produces about 65% of the world's mangoes, ranking first in mango production. There are numerous cultivars ofmango being cultivated world over but limited number of them could attain commercial status. Commercial cultivation ofDashehari for very long period had brought either several changes in the cultivar due to the genetic shift or climatic factors. A superior type Dashehari-51, identified at CISH, Lucknow, bears good crop each year with no "off' bearing rhythm and with negligible malformation (Rajput et at. 1996).
