Sugarcane Introduction in South Asia-Achievements and Opportunities

Abstract

With the increased usage of sugarcane for the production
of power, paper, ethanol, ethanol based chemicals and
a host of other value added products besides sugar and
gur, the profitability ofsugarcane agriculture and industry
has improved and this crop has increasingly contributed
to the economic prosperity of South Asian countries
where sugarcane is a major crop.
