Abstract

More than 80 per cent of the approximately 350,000
species of flowering plants in the world depend partially
or completely on insects, mostly bees, for sexual
reproduction. This interaction between plants and bees
is the basis for sustaining much of the biodiversity on
Earth. Pollinators are vectors of genetic exchange.
