Inheritance of RAPD Markers in Sorghum Hybrids
Main Article Content
Abstract
Sorghum (Sorghum hicolor L. Monech, 2n =20) comes fifth after wheat, maize, rice and barley both in area and production at world level. It is a predominantly self-pollinated crop with 2-20% out-crossing. RAPD detects nucleotide sequence polymorphism using a single primer of arbitrary sequence (Welsh and McCleland, 1990; Williams et al. 1990). In the present work RAPD analysis using selected decamer random primers was performed in three hybrids of sorgbum along with their parents for understanding their usefulness in the identification of the hybrid.
